It seems that Elder Bond & Fairwell's adventures have
come to a close.
Wednesday he will be transferred to Oda, Eastern Region
and i will be receiving my new companion from... Botswana! My first mission
"son"!
Im so excited to be training for these last 6 weeks. Im excited to get to know more about my new companion when he arrives this week. Sweet!
this week was quite a wonderful one. our investigator,
Richard, was baptized! although i mentioned last week that his wife would join
him, unfortunately she decided to wait an additional two weeks. She was at
church on Sunday and continues to progress. She wanted to learn a bit more
about the church and find her own personal witness that the church is true
before she joins. She is preparing for the 18th of April, pray for her!
ANyways, the baptism Saturday morning was one of my favorite. 4 missionaries, 1
ward mission leader and the candidate himself were in attendance. The candidate
showed up 1 hour late with a dead phone, 2 of the missionaries arrived 40
minutes late, and the water in the baptism font was only about 2 feet deep, and
the power was out but it could not have been a sweeter moment for me. Having
watched this man change his life drastically and now at the gates leading to
eternal life brought me great joy. All the small problems surprisingly gave me
almost zero stress- guess thats what happens when you deal with it for 2 years,
doesnt bother you any more :) I couldnt have felt the spirit more strongly as
the two of us entered that baptismal font under the smile of our heavenly
father as the sun beat down exceptionally hard. Life was too good!
This coming week will be a great one. we have such great
people to work with here in Ashtown, and about 5 hopeful baptismal candidates
for the month of april! thats a pretty big hope but im dreaming big!
I believe this weekend is gerneral conference, which we
will not get to watch unfortunately. the first weekend in may i believe the
stake will try and re-brodcast a few sessions so perhaps i may watch some then!
Life is going too good here for me. Im loving being immursed in the gospel. there is nothing more rewarding than helping our Father do His work. Let us all Press on! Till next week!
Love,
Elder Fairwell
