Welcome 2015!!

Wow, is it really possible that it is 2015? a new year? Goodness time is such a strange thing. At any rate, im excited and happy to have a new day and new year to grow and learn!  

We celebrated the new year by... well i went to bed by 10:30 and didnt do anything special except for missionary work... haha but it was at least nice to take time and ponder all that this year has in store for me! And to also take a moment to reflect how gracious the Lord has been to me in 2014. What a wonderful life I have!  

In other news, our investigator, F, is progressing somehow. We had a roller coaster experience while visiting her on thursday. Our visit to her on Tuesday felt something like an awkward break up. She was quiet and acting strange, we didnt have much to teach and the lesson was abruptly short. She insisted that the only reason she didnt baptize was because of her hair which was obviously only an excuse for a deeper reason... Anyways, I was very prayerful that Thursday's visit would be more uplifting! When we first arrived, she was much more happy that tuesday and welcomed us to sit down inside her small room. My companion and i visited with the member we brought with us for a few minutes, waiting for f. to come inside and join us. after about 10 minutes or so, we got up to investigate what was taking her so long. to our surprise, she was no where to be found!  

I cant tell you how disappointed i felt at that moment! i was on an exchange that day, so only i was very attached to sister f. amongst the three of us who came to visit. We looked at each other and were forced to accept that we had been played. She had sat us down and ran away! It was her way of telling us that she was finished. I knew how shy she is and this was a very common thing for Ghanaians to do if they want to send you a message. I felt my heart break!  

After agreeing to wait another 10 minutes, and after she still hadnt come, i put my shoes on and was leaving the small porch we were sitting on.  I could not have been happier in my life to see her coming from around the corner, apparently just coming from bathing! WHAT THE!! Haha She HADNT just left us hanging, she had only left to take a bath? haha this too isnt that odd, but usually they tell us if they are doing something if they're making us wait for them... anyways, the lesson we had with her was powerful, spirit filled, and she confessed some of her doubts and concerns and by the end of the lesson, prayed earnestly to be able to be baptized! woot!!!!  

She is still struggling, but it seems only socially at this point. She came to church on sunday, but was quick to sneak out after the first hour because her daughter was "hungry"... haha and she even came to a ward activity to celebrate the new year, but she only came to the doors of the cultural hall and then turned and went home from there. Im convinced she was just embarrassed that all the church members gathered together to witness her baptism and she bailed... but we will see! 

In other news, my companion is being transferred on wednesday. I will be receiving another Ugandan missionary, still cant spell his name. next week eh? I am so sad to leave Elder Kiwanuka, we have had so much fun working so hard together. But i know good things are in store :)
