Family and friends,
Howdiday? All is well over here in the harvest of souls. Truly, we are HARVESTING in Liberia. It is a real treat. :) I thank the Lord every day for the opportunity to be amongst such humble and believing people. When i return home, i will miss their simpleness and faith in the Lord their God. it has been very rewarding for me to see what i once thought were naïve and ignorant followers of Christ, are actually faith-filled believing people that have so much faith in the spirit that i could not comprehend it at first.

Lets see, a quick funny experience occured while on exchange with Elder
Humphereys on Tuesday. After district meeting at the chapel, i went to use the
bathroom and noticed that the toilet had a mouse stuck in. Of course, mice
scurrying around is not strange in the least around here and buildings like
this, but they are not desired- especially in the chapel! so, doing what we
thought was best, instead of helping the disease ridden animal out of the
toilet, we decided to... well... help him out the other side... In my defense,
it was elder humphereys that held the stick to drown the poor little guy. May
he rest in peace... (almost forgot, my mice kill count is up to 33)
Ah, onto more spiritual things!
one thing that my companion and i were discussing this week is the grace of God
that holds cars and engines together. I mean, think of it. some little bit of
liquid from the ground put inside some metal pipes propels a few thousand pound
vehicle with people inside anywhere they want to go. yeah, its a miracle! but
like all things, its more apparent here in Liberia- especially with the
vehicles they drive! I hope there are some pictures of some of the cars they drive
here somewhere on some blog somewhere. I mean, seriously. you get inside some
of these things, recognize that the car is so out of alignment that you're
driving slightly sideways and that the drivee is only using the emergency break
lever, apparently because the normal breaks are broken... Its a miracle.
Also, more interesting is the
height that they are able to load their pick up trucks! they load up pick ups
with huge bags of coal that tower, maybe 20 feet high. it is seriously a
miracle that they dont tip over! ah, the vehicles here are so scary... its a
wonderous miracle that they continue to run and people dont die in them! oh
yeah, the reason i brought this up was on the way here, we were in what seems
like the remains of once an extended van, maybe intended for 12 people, and i
counted how many we had in this one... 24 people. oh LIB! too easy!
We had a miracle with one of
our investigators this week, Sister H. She is wife to a longtime
member who recently expressed desires to go to the temple. He was counseled
that he should wait to use the temple assistance fund to travel to ghana for
when his wife could come with him as well, so that they could be sealed. (the
church can only pay for one trip per person.) we went on an assignment
from president kirkham to go and baptize this man's wife, so that they could go
be sealed.
Our first encounter with Sister
H. two weeks ago was a bit rough. she wasnt too warm to us and was
adimant that she had her own church and wasnt interested. we continued to stop
by, performing kindly acts of service and talking to her for the past two
weeks. a few days ago, at the conclusion of our first true lesson, she stopped
us and told us that she wanted to be baptized and that she knows the church is
true. uhhhh what.... haha the spirit spoke to her and she listened! :) its a
miracle!
times up, love yall!!
