Howdy my beloved friends and
family!
MOM!!! I GOT TWO PACKAGES!!!! :)) THANK YOU SO VERY
MUCH!!!!!! the contents were great!! :) i can find a lot of it here, but it was
just really sweet to feel the motherly love that was inserted :) thank you! the
mission got 50 packages this week after having 0 in the past 3 months... LIB
for ya! haha im just waiting for letters now! i want letters more than
packages, ill be honest :) thank you mom and family! :)
holy cow, another week has come
and gone! not going to lie, in the middle of each week it seems like an
eternity! especially this week. i have learned much this week! mostly from my
relationship with my companion, and i am so grateful for him and all that i
have been able to learn from him! Today ends my second transfer and also the
end of my 12 week training! i am very excited to be finished with training and
move on to... bigger and better things! haha :)
Surprisingly, i am being
transferred to a new area! im leaving Point Four Branch and going to
Brewerville (pronounced braville) Branch! in doing so, i will also change
apartments, zones, companions, everything! i have not even bee in my new area
or zone before! im excited! right now, i am in the "city" and now i
am going to the "Bush" :) i am really excited to see a new area and
get to know more of Liberia! My new apt. has a generator at night, which is nice and i
also hear that the apt is pretty nice! there are 3 apts of 4 elders each in the
compound. My new companion's name is Elder Udotim (idk how to spell it...)
he is also from Nigeria and about 10 months on mission. thats about all i
know about him. ill meet him tomorrow! should be great! :)
i am very sad to leave Point Four and all of the friends i
have made there. the members, my recent converts and investigators! ah, so sad
to leave all of them. i have really grown to feel for them, and i have a deep
love for them. But i am also very very confident that i am going where i need
to go! :)
I am doing very well. you could
say that i am becoming a "seasoned" missionary i guess, dad :) haha i
dont even mind the crazy things about Liberia that used to bother me! i've
learned a valuable lesson about patience! haha be patient with yourself and
those around you. its great :) just 20 minutes ago, i enjoyed a nice plate of
ebba, which only 3 weeks ago i didnt like at all! now, we eat it as a
special treat! i love it! :)
the weather today is so
beautiful! I guess i hadnt noticed how cloudy and overcast it always is here
until today when the sky is clear and the sun is out! it sure is beautiful! and
it "brightens" my day so much! haha usually, its about 85 or so,
clouds in the sky and usually rains at least once every 24 hours. often at
night and not usually for too long. just long enough to make the dirt stick to
your boots. although, every week or so it really rains and usually floods the
streets in our area. we'll see what my new area is like though! but its nice
that even now when the sun is in full, its only prolly 94 degrees or so. not
really sure without a thermometer and im convinced that my body deceives me.
this week in the mission office with air conditioning, within 15 minutes i was
cold and almost shivering! the weather is so very nice
today!
one thing that is really sweet
about Liberia is that the streets are full of vendors and cook shops, people
walking around with buckets of things to sell on their heads, and music is
usually playing from somewhere! its kinda like being in a fair or an amusement
park... just its africa... well, maybe its not like an amusement park but the
atmosphere is kinda like that :) on thursday my companion and i were waiting
for the rain to stop so we could head home when suddenly shania twain started
playing from a nearby vendor! haha the name of the song escapes me, and i was
conflicted because i didnt want to listen too much and become distracted by it,
but it is one that Ashley has on one of her CD's and it definitely reminded me
of driving down 9th street on my way towards their place! haha also, the other
day some Toto song was playing- one that dad used to play when we were young
and we would dance to it. haha those were pretty sweet moments this week, reminding
me of my loving family back home. I feel your love each and every day. thank
you :)
I also was able to go on an
exchange with my zone leader, Elder Skouson this week! it was so
great! haha i really enjoy that guy. he taught me much and we really were able to
learn from each other. its funny how small this world is! We met once at BYU
before he came to the field! crazy :) i hope we will get to serve together in
the future! i'll be leaving his zone to go to my new area.
life is good :) i am
reminded this week that the Lord puts us where we need to be, if we are
obedient to his commandments. I will continuously strive to become 100%
obedient in all that i do so that i can be where i need to be to serve the
Lord, at all times! none of us ever need to worry if we are being obedient to
what the Lord asks us to do. We should continue in faith, doing whats right and
letting our light shine to all those around us! :)

Good to hear that you made it through your first companion. Sometimes I think the second companion is harder because they may do missionary work a little differently than the first. This is OK each missionary does missionary work in their own way. You will be able to learn from this and develop your own style of the work.
