Hello Again!

Dearest Family and Friends,

looks like another week has flown by again :) too easy! (just kidding... :))

All is well here in good ol'LIB!! im happy and healthy and particularly excited about the super clean apartment my companion and i just cleaned. put a bit of elbow grease into it today and im looking forward to returning home to the smell of pine sol and bleach... mmMMmmmm good :)

Two experiences id like to share from this week. The first happened with my best friend, O. (the aluminum pot making guy). I was able to gift him with a brand new set of LDS sctriptures with a complimentary scripture bag this week. Oh man, just his excitment and reaction when i gave it to him would have made a prison mate smile! :) ahhh, he was so happy! he dances around the pot making shop showing everyone, expressing his excitment to have his very own LDS bible and BOM (Book of Mormon). haha oh, i was so happy just to see him that happy!

We sat down and taught him how to use it. He was facinated with all the study tools we have to offer in our scriptures. He was so excited to use it! Later that week, my companion found a BOM study manuel (like the ones from seminary) and gave that to him to aid him in his studies. what happened next shocked us. our follow up visit consisted of answering questions of his that the study manuel doesnt cover. Like is he cursed because he is black, why the nephites were destroyed if the lamanites were the wicked ones, is america the promised land and so many others! i was so impressed with his pondering skills! i asked him when he takes time to study and he told me that he wakes up at 2:00 AM every morning, studies by candlelight till 5:30, wakes up his wife for a devotional, 6:15 has prayers with his 14year old son, then studies till he leaves for work at 7:15. WHAT! haha for a liberian, getting them to read for 10 minutes is rough! (even getting me to read for 10 minutes is rough!). haha we were so impressed with this guys expression of faith :)
