Im proud to be an American!

Hello!
fourth of july in a 3rd world country sure makes you grateful! be grateful for all that we are given as americans :) we made french fries and chili to celebrate :) twas wonderful!!
this week i have come to learn a very important lesson. the Lord needs more pioneers, TODAY! the Lord is hastening His work- that is one major principle i have observed again and again here in libera. i am amazed at how wonderful and successful this mission is. i have felt very selfish and embarrassed with myself every time i feel upset or discouraged because i know what a blessing it is to be in this mission. what do i have to complain about? maybe a few physical discomforts and struggles? i have been here in Liberia for 3 weeks and have had 9 baptisms already. we teach up to 10 lessons in a day. 2 or 3 at the least. most missions struggle to find people to teach and here, we struggle to teach them all! what a blessing! what am i whining about!?
i believe that i am learning (slowly) how to forget myself and my own wants and desires. im beginning to love the work. its difficult because time goes by so slowly. i am grateful for the lessons i learn, but im not on a mission to perfect myself, im here to build the Lord's kingdom in Liberia. it is a wonderful blessing, and i am learning not to let anything at all get in between my ability to be an instrument in the Lords hands. He has a great work here. I know that i have been blessed with many gifts as a missionary-as all missionaries are- that will enable me to bring many miracles to these people. i will make sure that i am doing my part to be the tool the Lord needs me to be.
the key to loving this mission is truly forgetting yourself. haha elder smith and elder pentreath tease me because i actually have brown socks with brown shoes. haha the elders that are happiest here are the ones that have learned not to care for themselves. the reward for that is your own happiness.
my invitation today is to forget yourself, and to go help someone else. most importantly, by sharing the gospel with them. i am seeing the Lords hand as He begins to hasten His work! He is gathering Israel TODAY! we are making history- are you going to be a part of it? because i know that we will be looking back at 2013 as the time that missionary work exploded throughout the world. to my missionary friends- we are all enlisted! hurrah for israel! lets put our shoulder to the wheel! :) and to my family and friends at home, "share the gospel with every one you meet. if necessary, use words" share your testimony everywhere you go! we can do it! be creative, but let us always be bringing souls to Christ in all we do! :)
now as for me, im doing fine :) i've getting used to the routine around here and all the differences in Liberia. and maybe by next week i can say that i love it here. but i can say, today, that i love the missionary work!! :) it is so sweet and wonderful. i am ever grateful that i can be here, in Liberia, and be an instrument in the Lords hands. this is His work, im just trying my best to be worthy of it.
put your shoulder to the wheel! sing that for fhe tonight with me :)
love,
elder fairwell
